The Ninth Island is an ethereal portrait of female rage, self-destruction and survival. These poems offer a fractured vision of beauty, one that is brutal and unafraid of the violence that hums honestly beneath the surface of everyday life. This collection treats place not just as a backdrop, but as emotional terrain shaped by memory and contradiction. Fused with punchy dark humor and confessional intensity that offers no easy redemption, these poems do not ask to be palatable; they do not beg forgiveness; they demand to be witnessed. This is a rebellious voice - half-lit, unflinching and reaching toward tender.
